Tour Information
The Mansion House
A tour of Washington's farmhouse residence from August 1783 to November 1783 will help visitors gain a better understanding of life in the Colonial period. Each room is filled with 18th-century furnishings and artifacts.

Tours may also include the Children's Museum and the kitchen garden with plants and flowers indigenous to an 18th-century farmstead. The Children's Museum, a former Colonial summer kitchen or wash building, now houses games, activities and costumes for children.

Visitor Center and Museum Store
Although not original to Rockingham, the charming 150-year-old stone building is open for certain events, serving as both a visitor center and a museum shop, operated by volunteers of The Rockingham Association. Newly arrived guests at Rockingham may stop by to pick up maps, brochures and other site literature, and purchase a wide variety of toys, gifts, and sundries.

Admission
Free, but donations to The Rockingham Association are always appreciated.

Tour Size
Due to house constraints, limited to ten (10) people. Reservations must be made at least two (2) weeks in advance for groups of eleven (11) or more. Please call the office (609) 683-7132 to arrange a time.

Due to the small number of staff, on the day of your visit, it is suggested that you call to confirm with staff that the site will be open.
The tour includes the first and second floor of the historic house. At the beginning of the tour, please inform the docent of inability to climb the stairs and accommodation will be made to the best of our ability.

For the Comfort and Enjoyment of All
Smoking, food or beverages are not permitted in the House. Handling of artifacts and interior photography, videotaping or audio taping are not permitted. Please refrain from touching or leaning on furnishings and historic structural elements. Your cooperation will help ensure the survival of the museum collections for the enjoyment and education of future generations.

Facilities for People with Disabilities
Rockingham is partially accessible for persons with disabilities. There is handicap parking in the parking lot. However, if walking will be too difficult through the woods and approximately 100 yards to the house, please call the office (609) 683-7132 for information regarding closer access.
