On April 23, 2010, Governor Christie signed Executive Order 23, establishing the Passaic River Basin Flood Advisory Commission to develop and recommend solutions to the chronic flooding problems that plague New Jersey residents.
Recognizing there is no ‘silver bullet’ that can stop flooding in the Passaic River Basin, the Commission packaged 15 recommendations in this Report with small and large solutions to mitigate flood damage, better prepare for the periodic flooding and improve efforts to help flood victims.
DEP Commissioner Martin led the Commission with representatives from multiple organizations and municipalities. As authorized by the Executive Order, the Commission also consulted with additional outside experts and knowledgeable individuals in the public and private sectors. |
