News about the Discharge Prevention Program
May, 2008 Several new and revised guidance documents are now available on the Discharge Prevention Downloads web page. Important information is included on preparing plans and renewals, demonstrating financial responsibility, inspecting tanks, and identifying environmentally sensitive areas. All of the new information is consistent with the March 2007 readoption of N.J.A.C. 7:1E. Additional guidance documents are anticipated for release over the next several months.
March, 2007 The rule for Discharges of Petroleum and Other Hazardous Substances, N.J.A.C. 7:1E, has been revised and readopted. The final rule, a summary of changes, and the original proposal for readoption can all be downloaded from the Discharge Prevention Downloads web page.

March, 2007 DEP Commissioner Lisa Jackson has signed Administrative Order No. 2007-03, mandating that employees of facilities be provided with opportunities to participate during inspections conducted by the Discharge Prevention Program. The Order also outlines provisions for employee notification and other related matters. The effective date of the Order is April 2, 2007.
