News about the Discharge Prevention Program

There have been a number of questions raised since the adoption of the Site Remediation rules concerning how they interact with the Discharge Prevention rules. Please use the following link for information on how the two rules apply to discharges at major facilities: http://www.nj.gov/dep/srp/srra/listserv_archives/2012/20120724_srra.htm

January, 2010   Revised guidance documents are now available on the Discharge Prevention Downloads Web Page addressing plan renewals and annual audits. Guidance is also available on many other topics, including tank inspections and how to demonstrate financial responsiblity.

March, 2007   The rule for Discharges of Petroleum and Other Hazardous Substances, N.J.A.C. 7:1E, has been revised and readopted. The final rule, a summary of changes, and the original proposal for readoption can all be downloaded from the Discharge Prevention Downloads web page.

If you represent a company regulated by the Discharge Prevention program and have questions about how the new rule will affect your site, please contact your Discharge Prevention Project Manager for more information.

March, 2007   Employees of facilities must now be provided with opportunities to participate during inspections conducted by the Discharge Prevention Program, in accordance with Administrative Order No. 2007-03. The Order also outlines provisions for employee notification and other related matters. The effective date of the Order is April 2, 2007. A copy of the Administrative Order and a Fact Sheet describing the provisions are available on the Discharge Prevention Downloads web page.
