Students were asked to submit posters with one of the following radon topics depicted in the artwork:
A total of 195 New Jersey students participated, and first, second, and third place winners were selected. Recognition was also given to the school with the most entries. Due to the outstanding quality of the entries, nine honorable mention winners were also selected. Sharon Kim, a student at Lewis F. Cole Middle School in Fort Lee, won first place. Second place winner was Michael Boldt from Howell Middle School South in Howell with the school also winning for the most entries submitted category, and third place was Helania Anderson from J.P. Cleary Middle School in Minotola. The National Poster Contest was sponsored by the National Safety Council in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
