NUCLEAR
MEDICINE TECHNOLOGY
Other than a medical doctor who is authorized to use radioactive materials, all nuclear medicine procedures must be performed by a licensed nuclear medicine technologist. Detailed information pertaining to the scope of practice, the educational and licensing requirements, temporary licenses and license renewal can be found in the Handbook for Nuclear Medicine Technologists. A nuclear medicine technologist is not permitted to operate a x-ray equipment. Licensing Examination:The licensing examination is only offered via computer. The examination can be taken at one of over 200 test centers across the country. The use of a computerized examiantion offers quicker service and greater scheduling flexilibity. An application can be submitted at anytime. The minimum score needed to pass is 75%. Click the following to obtain an application for the examination/licensing.
