Notice of Rule Proposal
Safe Drinking Water Act Rules: Proposed Readoption with Amendments: N.J.A.C. 7:10, Proposed Repeal: N.J.A.C. 7:10-6

Public Notice
Take notice that the Department of Environmental Protection is proposing to readopt the Safe Drinking Water Act rules, N.J.A.C. 7:10, with amendments. The amendments include, among others, a State maximum contaminant level (MCL) for arsenic in drinking water of 5 micrograms per liter (ug/l); codification of methodology for calculating demand, firm capacity and determination of water availability in issued water allocation permit limits; and a requirement that all new nonpublic water systems sample for the same contaminants that nonpublic systems covered by the Private Well Testing Act must sample for.

The proposal is scheduled for publication in the New Jersey Register dated January 20, 2004. A copy of the proposal is available from the Bureau of Safe Drinking Water at (609) 292-5550 and is available on the Department's website at www.nj.gov/dep/rules/proposals/20040120_7_10.pdf . Copies can also be obtained from Westlaw Publishing at 1-800-808-WEST. Be advised that there may be a fee for obtaining a copy of the proposal from some sources.
