Sustainability Education Resources
Higher Education:

New Jersey universities and colleges offering sustainability degrees or programs in green economy fields include:
- The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education has a number of resources for campus, facilities, curriculum, operations, and more: http://www.aashe.org/resources
- The New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability provides a means to learn more about what is going on at New Jersey’s colleges and universities around sustainability: http://www.njheps.org/
K-12 Education:
- Education for sustainability must start early, especially systems thinking and environmental literacy. There are a number of K-12 initiatives to expand sustainability literacy at an early age:
- The NJ Department of Education offers a Green Program of Study pilot for education in Sustainable Design, Construction, and Energy: http://www.njgreenprogramofstudy.org/. Over the next few years the curriculum will be developed and implemented.
- The U.S. Department of Education recognizes schools that “save energy, reduce costs, feature environmentally sustainable learning spaces, protect health, foster wellness, and offer environmental education to boost academic achievement and community engagement” as Green Ribbon Schools: http://www2.ed.gov/programs/green-ribbon-schools/index.html
