The Adopt-A-Species program provides the public with a way to help protect and preserve the state's endangered and threatened species. These animals typically enrich the state's diversity of wildlife through their presence, beauty and the valuable roles they play ecologically and as part of New Jersey's natural landscape.

Financial support from the Adopt-A-Species program assists the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey in their efforts to build nest structures to aid in the recovery of bald eagles, ospreys, and peregrine falcons; attach radio transmitters to eagles, bobcats, shorebirds, timber rattlesnakes, and other animals to identify important habitats; study contaminants that threaten NJ’s wildlife and human populations; and, create community outreach programs that help citizens understand the value of wildlife conservation.

The Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey is a nonprofit organization that was created to support the efforts of the Endangered and Nongame Species Program, part of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
