The Alliance for New Jersey Environmental Education
The Alliance for New Jersey Environmental Education (ANJEE) is a private, non-profit statewide membership organization comprised of individuals with experience and/or interest in the field of environmental education (EE).
Acknowledgement of this organization is included in SEEDS for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the Alliance is the state's lead organization in the field of environmental education and has entered into numerous partnerships with the DEP in joint pursuit of furthering and improving EE in the state. Secondly, many department employees are active in the Alliance. Finally, all members of the state's Commission on Environmental Education and Inter-agency Work Group are honorary ANJEE members. The Alliance was instrumental in getting the commission and work group started and statutorily established, and its members continue to work with the commission to implement Environmental Education in New Jersey: A Plan of Action.
Established in 1985, ANJEE counts people from public, private and parochial schools, colleges and universities, nature centers, parks, museums, zoos, science and environmental organizations, civic and youth groups, camps, and government among its members.
The purpose of the Alliance is to provide a structure for its members, which facilitates the improvement of environmental education efforts in New Jersey. Membership benefits include a quarterly newsletter, participation in the state's annual EE conference and membership retreat, regional EE workshops, and statewide networking.
