Aquatic Wild

New Jersey is rich in its wealth of coastal shoreline, miles of waterways and acres of watersheds and wetlands. From rivers to marshes to raindrops, water can be found within walking distance of every New Jersey classroom. Water is essential to all life in all ecosystems. The study of aquatic areas provides educators and students with a better understanding of water's roles and the importance of protecting, managing and conserving it. The Aquatic WILD Education Activity Guide, commonly known as Aquatic WILD, actively explores water, aquatic areas and related development and pollution issues. It is sponsored in New Jersey by DEP's Division of Fish and Wildlife, and nationally by the Council for Environmental Education.

Highlights

  • Aquatic WILD activities introduce wildlife habitat, water conservation, nonpoint source pollution and watersheds, in interactive and creative ways.

  • Aquatic WILD's simulations, games and debates provide dramatic arenas for practicing decision making, problem solving and planning skills.

  • Free in-service workshops can be arranged for a school or school district on a year-round basis.

Target Audience(s)

Educators of students in grades K-12
