Cheesequake State Park

With access to adjacent salt marshes, a white cedar swamp, upland forests and a freshwater pond, the Cheesequake Interpretive Center in Middlesex County is the perfect place to analyze the interaction between humans and the Earth's natural resources. The center features programs and displays on the Lenni-Lenape Indians, local clay deposits, the Raritan Bay and local ecology. The center houses a small auditorium that features lectures, movies and slide shows. It is open Wednesday through Sunday year-round, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • The property provides habitat for a wide diversity of wildlife and birds.


  • Park facilities include seven picnic sites with tables, grills or stone fireplaces, playgrounds, playing fields, campsites, bathing area, fishing, and four hiking trails (the longest trail is three and a half miles).
