"Discovering Barnegat Bay Workshops" for Educators
Educators interested in exploring and learning about the unique New Jersey habitats and wildlife near and around Barnegat Bay
are encouraged to attend one of these workshops in August or October.
Each program provides a full-day opportunity for educators to obtain regionally significant educational and scientific
resources, receive assistance with integrating Barnegat Bay information into existing curricula, and utilize the facilities
and equipment of a local environmental education center.
Along with the Ocean County Soil Conservation District, the DEP is a proud co-sponsor and host of these workshops. Workshop
participants will each receive a copy of the Discovering Barnegat Bay guidebook, which includes over 40 lesson plans and activities.
Ocean County public school teachers will also receive a Discovering Barnegat Bay Treasure Chest, which contains a selection of videos,
curriculum materials, posters, resource guides and other information. Teachers will also receive six professional development hours.

- Bring a bag lunch – morning refreshments will be provided by the host facility.
- Dress to go outdoors! The workshop is a combination of classroom lessons and outdoor field studies.
