Geology In Action

This volunteer internship program provides opportunities for college students to see how geology is applied to environmental protection efforts in New Jersey. Interns gain experience by applying their geological knowledge to real-world problems. The New Jersey Geological Survey provides basic geological information needed to assess various environmental concerns. Interns may work during any part of the year but are expected to commit to working at least three days a week for two months.

Highlights

  • Program staff try to match interns with projects focusing on their area of interest.

  • Project areas of focus include geological mapping, geophysics, environmental geology, or GIS software applications.

  • Interns gain valuable work experience while in a professional environment.
