Snow and Ice
Saturday, December 1 at 1:30 PM
Families w/children ages 6 to 11
Come learn about snow and ice and how winter weather affects wildlife. If it’s cold enough, we’ll take a short walk to search for water in its frozen forms. You’ll also learn how to cut six-sided, no-two-alike snowflakes. Please bring a pair of scissors if you can. Meet in the Interpretive Center.

Moonlight Solstice Walk
Friday, December 21 at 7:00 PM

Adults/Children age 10 & up
Before the last-minute holiday rush begins, come take a quiet 3-mile walk by moonlight to Lake Rutherford on one of the longest nights of the year. Registration is required before 4:00 PM on Thursday, 12/20/07. Please call the Interpretive Center at 973-875-1471.

A Sense of Winter
Friday, December 28 at 1:30 PM

Families w/children ages 4 to 11
Need a break from your winter break? Bring the family to High Point for the afternoon. We’ll exercise our senses while exploring the winter woods on an easy walk. Then we’ll warm up in the Interpretive Center with hot chocolate and a nature-themed DVD. Meet outside the Park Office on Route 23.

Winter Red and Green Walk
Saturday, December 29 at 10:30 AM

Adults/Children age 8 & up
Come take an easy 2.5-mile walk through High Point’s Kuser Natural Area. We’ll be on the lookout for spots of color in the winter landscape and will learn to identify several evergreens and learn how they survive winter’s cold. Meet at the entrance to the Cedar Swamp Trail. Please note: If there is more than an inch or two of snow on the ground we may meet at an alternate location. Please call the Interpretive Center at 973-875-1471 for more information if there has been a snowfall.
