Liberty State Park Interpretive Center
Interpretive Events Calendar

The following is a list of activities being offered through the Interpretive Center at Liberty State Park. Some programs are offered free without registration requirements; some will require advanced registration as indicated below. A fee will be charged to motor vehicles entering the park on weekends and holidays 5/28 - 9/5 (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day). All programs will initially meet at the Interpretive Center unless otherwise indicated. Attendance is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. All children must be accompanied by an adult. In the event of inclement weather, some programs might be canceled. It is always advisable to call ahead before coming out. Phone: 201-915-3409.

NOTE: ADA Accessible

The Liberty State Park Interpretive Center, located on Freedom Way within Liberty State Park, features environmental and historical exhibits that focus on the changing Hudson River and the surrounding area. The center houses an auditorium and offers programs for school and youth groups, and the public. Liberty State Park provides habitat for numerous resident and migratory birds and is a valuable local resource where people can learn about and interact with the environment.

DIRECTIONS: Liberty State Park is located in Jersey City, Exit 14B off the New Jersey Turnpike. Follow signs to the Interpretive Center on Freedom Way.

Nature Cinema & Craft
August 17th, 2008 1:00pm - 2:00pm: POND & RIVER

FREE, Pre-Registration Required
Beat the heat of summer in our cool auditorium. From crabs to frogs to birds, we will show a different 30 minute film and then complete a craft project. Guaranteed to be fun, entertaining and educational! Spaces are limited! Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Groups of 8 or more call for special arrangements.

Summer Shorebird Walk
August 23rd, 2008 10:00am - Noon

FREE, Pre-Registration Required
Come on out to the Interpretive Center and join us for a leisurely stroll along Liberty Walk as we look for and identify our summer shorebirds. Dress to be outside, bring binoculars if you have them, we have a limited number that can be borrowed. Spaces are limited! Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Groups of 8 or more call for special arrangements.
