This program provides funding to municipal and county environmental commissions and soil conservation districts for projects documenting environmental resources, preparing resource protection strategies and preparing and disseminating environmental education materials.
Highlights
The maximum annual grant is $2,500 and the minimum is $1,000. Both are to be matched dollar for dollar by municipalities, counties or soil conservation districts.
Many environmental commissions have developed brochures and pamphlets while others have used the money specifically for curricula and other school projects.
Projects must be sponsored by an environmental commission but non-profit organizations and schools are encouraged to work with their local environmental commission.
To learn whether your municipality has an active environmental commission, contact the Association for New Jersey Environmental Commissions ( ANJEC ) at 973-539-7547.
Target Audience(s)
Municipal and county environmental commissions, soil conservation districts, curriculum coordinators, school administrators and educators.
