Crafted to meet state and national standards, each educational module challenges 9th through 12th grade students to explore every facet of an environmental issue. These multidisciplinary, hands-on, standards-based activities use cooperative learning, problem solving and authentic assessment techniques to bring awareness and understanding of current issues to prompt positive student actions.
Project Learning Tree lessons present a balanced approach to instructing current issues and topics, while stimulating students critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Each module provides detailed background information about the subject matter under discussion and suggestions for taking action within your school's community.
The following modules can be obtained by attending a free workshop, two hours in length for each module presented: The Changing Forest: Forest Ecology, Municipal Solid Waste, Exploring Environmental Issues: Focus on Forests, and Focus on Risk.
An Introductory Handbook which gives an overview of the secondary modules is also available.
