Environmental Education and DEP

Environmental Education Principles

The DEP Environmental Education Program recognizes the following environmental education principles:

Environmental education is a learning process that continues through all stages of life;

(Citizens should) consider the environment in its totality - natural and built, technological and social, economic, political, ethical, cultural and historical, and health and aesthetic aspects;

(Citizens should) recognize human dependence on a healthy environment and human responsibility for ensuring a sustainable future; and

(The DEP should) provide residents with opportunities to acquire comprehensive data and current information, as well as the commitment and skills needed to utilize them and to actively engage in protecting and improving the environment.
