SITE BACKGROUND INFORMATION/ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

“Area of concern" (AOC) means any existing or former location where hazardous substances, hazardous wastes, or pollutants are or were known or suspected to have been discharged, generated, manufactured, refined, transported, stored, handled, treated, disposed, or where hazardous substances, hazardous wastes, or pollutants have or may have migrated.

The Preliminary Assessment identified one potential area of environmental concern as follows:

AOC 1- 0.75 acre parcel of currently vacant land that was formerly rowhomes and possibly containing demolition material and/or historic fill.

Six test pits were installed to evaluate the presence of historic fill. Two samples were collected from each due to different types of fill reported. Samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons and revealed no petroleum hydrocarbon exceedances. Samples were analyzed for volatile organic contaminants, metals, PCBS, and pesticides and revealed no exceedances. One sample was collected from historic fill and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons, volatile organic contaminants, base neutrals, and metals. No petroleum hydrocarbons or volatile organic contaminants were detected above soil cleanup criteria. Lead, benzo(a)anthracene, benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo(k)fluoranthene, indeno(1,2-cd)pyrene, and benzo(a)pyrene were detected at concentrations exceeding applicable cleanup criteria.

Delineation sampling has been proposed.
