SITE BACKGROUND INFORMATION/ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

“Area of concern" (AOC) means any existing or former location where hazardous substances, hazardous wastes, or pollutants are or were known or suspected to have been discharged, generated, manufactured, refined, transported, stored, handled, treated, disposed, or where hazardous substances, hazardous wastes, or pollutants have or may have migrated.

The Preliminary Assessment identified one potential area of environmental concern as follows:

AOC 1- 0.6 acre parcel of possible historic site demolition operations. Deeper basement areas possibly backfilled with contaminated material or surficial material spread across the site for grading. The site was formerly rowhomes.

Four test pits were performed to evaluate the possible presence of contaminated material. Two samples were collected from each test pit and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons and Priority Pollutants. No contaminants were detected at concentrations exceeding applicable cleanup criteria. Ground water was not encountered.
