Ground Water Permit Information

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) will hold a public hearing on Monday, Nov. 15 to accept comments on changes DuPont is proposing for a permit it needs to operate a treatment system it has been using for many years to treat contaminated ground water at its Pompton Works site in Pompton Lakes.

The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. at the Carnevale Center, 10 Lenox Avenue. A transcriber will record all comments made during the hearing. NJDEP will consider all comments and respond to those comments relative to the permit in a Responsiveness Document. The NJDEP will accept written comments until Nov. 30. Comments may be sent to: Frank Faranca, Case Manager, at 401 East State Street, Trenton, NJ 08625-028.

In addition, the NJDEP's case management team will be available from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to answer questions about the permit application as well as any other questions about cleanup progress.
