NJDEP formed the Environmental Claims Administration
(ECA) program, financed by the state Spill Compensation Fund,
to help innocent individuals, businesses and local governments suffering
direct or indirect damages from the discharge of hazardous substances.
ECA also handles claims made through the Sanitary Landfill Facility
Contingency Fund, which provides compensation for damages resulting
from the improper closure of any governmentally approved sanitary
The United States Environmental Protection Agency has a program
that provides Technical Assistance Grants
to affected groups at Superfund sites. The purpose of these grants
is to assist citizens' groups in understanding technical information
that assesses potential hazards and the selection and design of
appropriate response actions at these sites.
NJDEP Introduces a Technical Assistance Grant Program
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announces the introduction of a Technical Assistance Grant program. The program provides funding to nonprofit community groups to employ independent Licensed Site Remediation Professionals as technical advisors to perform activities to improve the public’s understanding of environmental conditions and remediation of contaminated sites in their communities.
