[SRRA]: May 2014 Remedial Investigation Complete Statutory Extension Reminders

The Site Remediation Reform Act (SRRA, N.J.S.A. 58:10C-1 et seq.) was amended in January 2014 to allow for an extension to the statutory requirement to complete the remedial investigation by May 7, 2014. The amendments required persons who received the extension to meet certain requirements and provide certain information to the Department in order to maintain the extension.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (Department) has posted information to its website (https://www.nj.gov/dep/srp/timeframe/extension_reminder.html) regarding requirements related to the statutory extension for completing the remedial investigation.

The Department recommends that persons who received an RI extension review the information posted, as failure to comply with extension-related requirements could result in the Department undertaking direct oversight of the remediation in accordance with N.J.A.C. 7:26C-14.
