[SRRA]: Updates regarding submission of remedial investigation reports due by the May 7, 2016 statutory deadline

P.L.2013, c.283 allowed certain persons responsible for conducting remediation to qualify for a two-year extension to complete the remedial investigation. Parties responsible for conducting remediation at the subject sites, who qualified for the extension, have until May 7, 2016 to submit a Remedial Investigation Report (RIR) to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (Department). The intent of this listserv is to provide information to ensure the timely and efficient receipt of these submissions by the Department.

The RIR and related forms must be received by the Department by May 7, 2016, regardless of the fact that May 7 falls on a Saturday.

The submission must be made via the DEP Online Service. To reduce the chance of encountering difficulties in making the online submission, the Department makes the following suggestions:

  • Make your submission as early as possible: Do not wait until the last minute to submit your document. Submitting it as early as possible will allow time to trouble shoot issues which may be encountered.
  • Avoid common errors: Common errors include, but are not limited to, having the wrong Case Inventory Document (CID), having the wrong version of JAVA installed on your computer, and using a naming convention which does not allow proper identification of the report. Ensure that you have all the proper information available before you attempt to submit your document.
  • Dry run: You can do a dry run and delete it before certifying. This may help you to identify and resolve potential issues before submission of critical documents.

The RIR Online Service is built as a stand-alone service. If you are submitting other remedial phase-documents along with the RIR, please submit the other reports with their paper form as a hard copy and reference the RIR document.

Department staff will be monitoring the status of the RIR Online Service and the progress of individual submissions. Should the monitoring identify problems that are preventing the timely submission of documents, the Department will issue subsequent listserv instructions.
