NEW JERSEY WATERSHED AMBASSADORS PROGRAM
Watershed Management Area 2
Wallkill
Is it safe to fish, swim, or go boating in my area? What's a watershed? Where does nonpoint source pollution come from? I want to get involved with my watershed. What can I do to help restore our waterways to clean, safe streams and lakes? Where do I start?
I can help. My name is Jen Gately. I'm your local AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador, and am looking forward to working with the surrounding communities of the Wallkill River Watershed. Together, we can help evaluate the quality of streams, as well as help educate the community about watershed management.
In May of 2007, I graduated from Delaware Valley College with a Bachelors degree in Conservation & Wildlife Management. Now I am looking to use my education and experience as a Sussex County native to help blend our community with responsible watershed management. To do this, I will be available for educational programs to schools, interested community groups, and concerned individuals. I will also be conducting training sessions for groups looking to literally get their feet wet in evaluating the health of our streams.
If you or your group is looking to get more involved or just to learn more about our local watershed, feel free to contact me. I am extremely flexible with my schedule and ideas. Together, we can develop new methods to help teach our community about the importance of a healthy watershed.
