NEW JERSEY WATERSHED AMBASSADORS PROGRAM
Watershed Management Area 20
Assiscunk, Crosswicks, Doctors

Hi there! My name is Erin McCollum and I am a proud member of the 2007-2008 AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassadors Program. My purpose as a Watershed Ambassador is to provide fun, interesting and educational environmental presentations and training sessions to you!

I am available to your classroom or community group to discuss nonpoint source pollution, its effect on water quality and practical solutions that everyone can employ to prevent producing their own "people pollution." I can target these presentations to your age group, particular interests and knowledge base. I am also able to conduct stream assessment trainings with you or your organization in order to empower you to test the quality of your own local stream simply by looking at it or by finding out what lives in it. I will also be organizing several stewardship projects throughout the year so please contact me if you are interested in getting involved.

I am working in the Assiscunk, Crosswicks and Doctors watershed, otherwise known as Watershed Management Area (WMA) 20. This watershed encompasses 253 square miles of land bordered on the north by Trenton, the west by the Delaware River, the south by the Fort Dix/McGuire military complex, and the east by Six Flags Great Adventure and the Colliers Mill Fish and Wildlife Management Area. It includes 26 municipalities in Mercer, Burlington, Ocean and Monmouth Counties. I am based out of my cozy attic office in the Mercer County Soil Conservation District in Hamilton Square.

I hail from the state of Virginia where I graduated from James Madison University in May of 2007 with a B.S. in Geographic Science. Being nonnative to New Jersey, I am learning all I can about the local area and am excited to be here working alongside citizens in this very unique watershed. I look forward to sharing my aquatic passion with you.

As AmeriCorps members, we are here to serve, so please utilize your local Ambassador as a free resource! If you are unsure about whom your local Ambassador is, feel free to contact any of us to find out. I look forward to working with you!
