Federal and state regulations
establish monitoring requirements for all
public water systems. The Technical
Evaluation and Security Section of the Bureau
of Safe Drinking Water is responsible
for determining, developing, and modifying
monitoring schedules for public water systems
to ensure the water systems are monitoring
in accordance with the Federal and State
Safe Drinking Water Acts.
All community, nontransient and transient
noncommunity monitoring schedules are accessible
through this web site. The posting of the
monitoring schedules provides guidance to
public water systems to achieve and/or maintain
compliance with monitoring requirements.
The monitoring schedules are also available
to the general public to answer system specific
monitoring questions they may have. The monitoring
schedules are available below and are separated
into two categories; one for community systems
and one for non-community systems. Each file
is further categorized by county and by ascending
PWSID number within each file. If you do
not know the PWSID number of a system or
to determine which system serves your town
please click
here.
Sampling requirements for a water system
may change at any time for several reasons
including analytical results, changes in
population and/or inventory. The Bureau has
attempted to ensure the accuracy of the monitoring
schedules; however, changes may have been
made and not reflected in the schedules posted
on this web site. The schedules may be
significantly different from those previously
mailed or posted. Each page has a timestamp
showing when it was produced.
Radionuclide Monitoring Schedules are
not shown in the files below. They will
be posted on this site shortly so please
check back often! However, there are
systems required to perform radionuclide
monitoring in calendar year 2008 which
should already be aware of their requirements.
Any system which has installed treatment
to remove radionuclides must continue quarterly
monitoring and reporting in 2008 and any
system whose Running Annual Average continues
to exceeded a MCL must conduct quarterly
monitoring in 2008 until it has four consecutive
quarters of results which all are below
the MCL. Also, in general, any system that
did its initial monitoring in 2005 will
have to conduct monitoring in 2008 for
each contaminant where the average of the
initial monitoring results is above ½ of
the MCL but at or below the MCL.
It is the responsibility of the public water
system and its licensed operator (if applicable)
to make sure proper monitoring is performed
for the distribution system and each point
of entry for each parameter. Sampling requirements
may be confirmed by referring to the Code
of Federal Regulations (40 CFR 141) and
the New
Jersey Safe Drinking Water Act Regulations
(N.J.A.C. 7:10).
If you have any questions regarding a monitoring
schedule, please contact the technical evaluation
manager at (609) 292-5550. To determine a
county’s assigned technical evaluation
manager please click

A copy of the cover letter and general notes
that accompanied past monitoring schedules
that were mailed out to community and non-transient,
non-community water systems are still available
below. All the notes remain applicable. The
cover letter addresses issues such as electronic
(E2 Reporting System) reporting and naming
of facility IDs or points of entry. Both
of these issues also remain their importance.
Please note that inventory reports which
are referred to in the cover letter document,
are not presently being mailed or posted
on this site. We strongly recommend you review
the letter and notes prior to viewing the
monitoring schedules.
