| Established
in 1912 as part of New Jersey's commitment to monitoring
shellfish growing waters, the bureau has continually provided
the state with consistent, long-term monitoring and reporting
of coastal water quality.
The Bureau's main office is located in Leeds Point, New
Jersey. This location is just outside of Atlantic City,
New Jersey and is a central location to most of the State's
coastal waters. On most work days, the Bureau's boat captains
collect water samples from the State's coastal waters.
They deliver the samples to the Bureau facilities in Leeds
Point for analysis. Results of these tests are evaluated
by the Bureau's assessment staff to produce reports on
coastal water quality.
In March of 2007, the Cooperative Coastal Monitoring Program and Clean Shores Program were added to our Bureau.
