Valuation Bureau

The Valuation Bureau values the reserve liabilities of domestic life insurers and issues certificates of valuation. The Bureau also works with the Financial Examinations Section in reviewing reserves of companies under examination.

The Valuation Bureau chairs the committees which review admission applications of life and health insurance companies and which review applications to form municipal and school board health joint-insurance funds. The bureau reviews life reinsurance and assumption agreements, reviews applications from charitable organizations seeking special permits to issue charitable annuities and monitors the ongoing operations of health joint insurance funds and special permit holders.
