The Pocket License
 The individual real estate license and the real estate pocket card have been combined. The real estate license for an individual is now also the pocket card. Click here for detailed information on the Pocket License.

Printed License Formats

Company and Branch Office Licenses: Sized at approximately half of an 8.5” x 11” page.

Individual Licenses: Even though each individual now has the ability to print or email their own license (sized for display on a tablet or cell phone), it is still possible to print one to many individual licenses in business card size format (2” by 3.5”) if you so prefer. These will be generated 10 per 8.5” x 11” page (e.g. Avery 8376 or similar business cards).

note: If printed, licenses may be printed on paper of any color or quality yet must be legible.

Display of License Requirements

Company License:
The company license must be printed and displayed on the wall at the business address of the company.

Branch Office License:
The branch office license must be printed and displayed on the wall at the business address of the branch office.

Individual License:
All licensed individuals (*) must carry in their possession either the digital image (cell phone, tablet, laptop, or other electronic device) OR the printed pocket card license whenever transacting business. In either case, the pocket card license must be legible. Regardless of which option is chosen, the licensee must have either the paper or digital pocket card license in their possession at all times when engaged in the business of a real estate broker, broker-salesperson, salesperson or referral agent AND must be able to produce the physical or electronic image of their pocket card license upon request.

* The term "licensed individuals" refers to all NJ actively licensed Brokers of Record (Employing Brokers included), Brokersalespersons, Salespersons and Referral Agents.

In addition,the broker must be able to produce or print the electronic version of the license of any individual licensed with his or her firm for inspection by the public upon request.

Generating New Jersey Real Estate Licenses

The Online Licensing Services Main Menu for Brokers of Record contains two links regarding generating and printing licenses:

  2. Email My Individual License

The "Generate Licenses" menu item will allow brokers of record to view, save and/or print the real estate license for the company, branch offices, and any or all individual licensees actively licensed with the company.

The "Email My Individual License" menu item will allow abroker of record to view, save digitally, print and/or email a digital copy of their own, individual brokers license.

To comply with the requirement imposed by N.J.S.A. 45:15-12 that all licenses be displayed in brokers’ offices, brokers must print and display the firm’s broker license and, if applicable, the license of the broker of record.

In addition, the broker must be able to:

        • - produce and print the electronic version of the license of any individual licensed with his or her firm at the firm’s main office upon request.
          OR
          - produce a copy of the physical version of the pocket card licenses of all individual licensees with
          their firm. The paper pocket card licenses of individuals may be displayed either at the broker’s main office or at the branch office from which the individual works. Those licenses may be displayed on a wall or kept in a book at the real estate office and, upon request, be produced for inspection by the public.

        Either digital or printed version of your licenses must be produced upon request for inspection by the public.

        Pursuant to N.J.S.A.45:15-14, all licensees must have their pocket card license in their possession at all times when engaged in the business of a real estate broker, broker-salesperson, salesperson or referral agent. Every individual that has an active, New Jersey real estate license has the ability to generate their own pocket card license using NJDOBI Online Licensing Services, or you as the broker can generate their pocket card license and distribute to them.
