The New Jersey Real Estate Commission (REC) issues licenses to real estate brokers and salespersons, real estate schools, and course instructors, as well as establishes standards of practice for the real estate brokerage profession.
The law in New Jersey requires all applicants for licensure as a real estate salesperson or broker to possess good character, trustworthiness, honesty and integrity.

The long standing contract between Pearson Vue and the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance expired on June 30, 2009. PSI Services LLC was awarded the Real Estate License Examinations and Selected Services contract earlier this year and will be responsible for administering all real estate licensing examinations.
PSI Services LLC began accepting reservations on June 16th for licensing examinations to be administered on or after July 1, 2009. Reservations may be completed electronically on their website at www.psiexams.com or by telephone at 1-800-733-9267.
Approved real estate education providers were e-mailed information regarding the transition and should expect additional information from PSI Services LLC regarding the new data system and the Industry Day sessions.
NOTE: Candidates for Real Estate Instructor licenses and for directors and principals of applicants for Real Estate School licenses will also be required to complete the fingerprinting process as a condition of securing the respective real estate licenses. Forms and instructions for Real Estate Instructors and Real Estate Schools concerning the fingerprinting process are NOT available on the web site. These license candidates MUST contact the Real Estate Commission, Education Bureau at (609) 292-7272, extension 50113 for information about their fingerprinting process.
