TOMS RIVER — Department of Banking and Insurance Commissioner Ken Kobylowski gave a presentation on financial literacy this week at Ocean County College (OCC), stressing the importance of saving and creating a budget. Commissioner Kobylowski spoke to about 60 college students in Toms River Tuesday, urging them to balance their spending budgets while saving money and exercising fiscal discipline.
The event was another stop on the Department’s Financial Literacy campaign for high school and college students. For the last seven years, the Department has spoken with thousands of students in schools across the State. Topics in the seminar include basic personal finance, the importance of credit and how to manage credit cards.
Last year the Department began a Financial Literacy Program for senior citizens that covers financial services products like life insurance, reverse mortgages, annuities, long term care and mortgage refinancing. |
