EDUCATION

""

Many organizations, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency, state departments of environmental resources, Corps of Engineers, the Red Cross, the National Weather Service, and the Association of State Flood Plain Managers have produced educational material about different aspects of flooding - from flood insurance to flood clean-up.

Some non-profit organizations and middle and high schools have developed or distributed excellent educational material. A need exists to provide web-based flood educational information to community officials and school curriculum advisors. Listed below under Other Helpful Links are links which provide some basic flood information. This information may be used to educate both adults and children alike about a variety of flooding subjects.

The flood topic is so broad that there is a need for better organization and presentation of the vast amount of information - before the flooding begins. The legal issues that arise between private land ownership and flood plain management require an informed public if they are to be resolved.
