Students and teachers studying aspects of the Delaware River Watershed are invited to share research and stewardship initiatives on local watersheds as they network and participate in educational seminars with other students and professionals during this three-day event.

This year the focus of the summit is Biodiversity in the Delaware River Basin, and the students will interact with scientists who are actively researching biodiversity, as well as conduct biodiversity studies themselves. For additional information, please check out the 2006 Summit's flyer with attached intent form (39 KB; free Adobe reader required to view).

Schools are each encouraged to send a team of approximately six students to represent their watershed by conducting a 15-minute presentation and sharing an exhibit of their watershed research/action project.

One or more designated adults from the school district must be in attendance and responsible for students at all times during the conference.

The primary sponsor of this event is the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of State Parks - Delaware River Watershed Education. The Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) is pleased to support this very worthwhile, educational program.

The cost for the entire Summit (all three days) is $115.00 per person. This includes two overnights, two breakfasts, three lunches, two dinners, field trips, and extras! There is also the option of attending only on Monday, May 1, 2006 to hear the presentations and have lunch (or for teachers attending to observe); this cost is $35 per person.

The deadline is February 13, 2006 to receive the registration packet; no fees are due at this time. Simply print, fill out, and mail in the intent form found at the above link!
