DRBC Staff Present at National Water Quality Monitoring Conference
The National Water Quality Monitoring Council (NWQMC) held its 9th National Monitoring Conference from April 28 - May 2, 2014 at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. This biennial conference is attended by water quality monitoring professionals from state and federal agencies, interstate commissions, universities, and consulting firms.
With its main focus on water quality monitoring, the conference highlights new findings and technical innovations, as well as cutting edge tools in monitoring, assessment, and reporting. This year's conference included a big emphasis on continuous real-time monitoring systems.
Two DRBC staff members were invited to present at the conference this year:
- John Yagecic, Supervisor of the Standards and Assessment Section of the Modeling, Monitoring, and Assessment Branch, presented on "Temporally Dynamic Representations of Continuous Monitor Data through Animated Graphing" (pdf 2 MB). Links to select animated graphs (found on DRBC's YouTube channel) are included in the pdf.
- Robert Limbeck, Watershed Scientist, presented on "Antidegradation Protection of Water Quality for the Delaware River Basin: Expansion of the Control Point Approach to Monitoring and Assessment" (pdf 3.3 MB). View additional information about DRBC's Special Protection Waters program.
