BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Water Resources Engineer/Modeler participates in the Modeling, Monitoring, and Assessment Branch in the overall surveillance and investigation of existing and potential conventional and toxic pollution, and in the development, modification, and management of hydrodynamic and water quality models for waters within the Delaware River Basin.

Responsibilities include the identification, establishment, maintenance, and modification of complex point and nonpoint source water quality models including the one-, two-,  and three-dimensional models of the Delaware River and Estuary for conventional and toxic pollutants, stormwater models, hydrologic/hydraulic models, and the mixing zone models; compilation, implementation, and maintenance of databases on conventional and toxic pollutants and data related to the modeling work; utilizing statistical programs to assess trends and address management issues; development of wasteload allocations for conventional and toxic pollutants using water quality models and implementation policies/procedures; the planning and conduct of field investigations to develop, calibrate, and validate hydrodynamic and water quality models; review and evaluation of plans to reduce or eliminate sources of pollutants from point and non-point sources; providing staff support for Commission advisory committees and subcommittees including the Toxics Advisory Committee; providing technical support for other Branch activities; assisting in the planning and conduct of water quality investigations for conventional pollutants in ambient water and wastewater and for toxic pollutants in ambient water, wastewater, sediments, and fish tissue.

QUALIFICATIONS: The applicant should qualify in one of the following categories:

SALARY RANGE: $51,550 - $77,250, plus comprehensive benefit package. EOE.
