Getting on Board

You may choose to paddle the entire sojourn or you may register for the day(s) of your choice. Spaces are limited, so register early! And remember ... we paddle rain or shine! Should there be unsafe high water, alternate activities will be offered and planned meals/camping will still be provided.

Fees

The Sojourn is a non-profit event.  Contributions of time, goods and services from our many sponsors and supporters allow us to keep participant costs as low as possible. The early bird daily fees of $60 for adults and children over the age of 15 and $40 for children 15 and under are for those who register prior to June 1, 2008. Daily fees for registrants after June 1, 2008 are $70 for adults and children over the age of 15 and $50 for children under 15. These fees cover certain meals, canoe/kayak/raft rentals and shuttle transportation, as well as a commemorative T-shirt, program expenses, and camping fees.

Please note that children's pricing is different this year in that PADDLING children 15 and under are eligible for the child's daily fee!  In past years the child's fee was only for non-paddling children age 12 and under riding in parent's canoe.

In addition to the daily fee, there is a one-time insurance fee of $5 per person. Current American Canoe Association (ACA) members do NOT have to pay this one-time insurance fee since they are already covered under their ACA membership (please provide your ACA membership number and expiration date on the sojourn registration form).

Make checks payable to Heritage Conservancy and please write "Sojourn 2008" in the check notation section.

Refunds will be given (by written request), minus a $25/person processing fee, if the cancellation is received on or before Friday, June 20, 2008.

Scholarships are available for first-time paddlers and K-12 teachers. Click here for details.

By registering, you are granting the Sojourn permission to use your image in future Sojourn promotional and educational materials.

Forms

One family per registration form, please.

Traditional Registration Form -  to be printed, filled out by hand, and mailed in to PEEC with payment.

Interactive Registration Form  - to be filled out online (this form will calculate the fees for you), printed, and mailed in to PEEC with payment.

Arrow When using the interactive form, if you are registering prior to June 1, simply zero out the daily fee after June 1 ($70) when filling in the form, and if registering after June 1, please zero out the early bird daily fee ($60). The form will then re-calculate accordingly. Boating Equipment

You may use your own river-worthy boat or rent canoes/one-person kayaks from the Sojourn at a discount (shuttle transportation and rental costs are already included in the sojourn registration fee). If renting a canoe, only two participants are allowed per boat, except that non-paddling children under age 12 may ride as a third person in a parent's canoe. Life jackets and paddles are provided with rentals. All participants must wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device (PFD) at all times on the river. Aluminum canoes are not recommended.

Shuttles and Gear

Leave your vehicle at the rendezvous site each day. Shuttles will transport you and your boat to and from the put-in or take-out. Your camping gear will stay with your vehicle. We paddle rain or shine, so bring rain gear, extra sweaters, hat, sunscreen, eyeglass retainers, sunglasses, and a long sleeve shirt. Wear river shoes, river sandals, or old sneakers. Bring waterproof containers for gear. Bring a camp or folding chair for evening/campfire programs.

Meals and Camping

Two meals are provided each day. Additional meals may be provided compliments of sojourn sponsors. In some cases meals will be on your own. A meal schedule will be provided upon registration. Sorry, we cannot accommodate special diets. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the river. Camping is provided at commercial and state campgrounds (included in the registration fee). All sites have toilets, drinking water, and emergency access. Some sites may not have showers.
