Abstract:
The Linden 21st Century Community Learning Center is an after-school program for students in grades five through eight. The program is housed at Joseph E. Soehl Middle School and runs from 3:15-6:15 p.m. each day that regular school is in session. The after-school program consists of a Homework Zone Tutorial class in which students are provided assistance with their assignments and study skills. The Enrichment Classes are scheduled on a rotating basis and provide activities in Language Arts, Mathematics, Character Education, Physical Education and Media Technology. The final component of the day is the Recreation classes. Several examples of recreational choices are Yoga, Open Gym, Miniature Golf, Media, Jewelry Making, Arts and Crafts, Game Room and Step it Up Dance Class. The 21st Century Community Learning Center also provides weekly parenting workshops, monthly class trips, community service opportunities, and Family Fun Night Events.
