Abstract:
The REACH Program was created in 2001 through the federally-funded 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program grant. The Program is located in the Phillipsburg School and is designed to address the educational, recreational, social, cultural, emotional, and physical needs of the students. The after-school program operates from 3:00-6:00 throughout the school year and includes an hour of educational activities and homework help followed by activity sessions. The activity sessions may consist of sports, yoga, theater activities, dance workshops, cooking, science activities, 4-H Club, childcare preparation courses, arts and crafts, and team-building activities. Students also have access to counseling and nursing services during this time. There are also parent/family activities offered a minimum of one evening per month. During the six-week summer program, the hours of operation are 9:00-3:00, Monday-Friday. The summer consists of a mixture of educational and recreational activities, as well as a weekly educational field trip.
