Requirements for Teaching American Sign Language

This Power Point presentation “Requirements for Teaching American Sign Language” was prepared for the program administrators and directors of special education attending the annual administrators’ roundtable meeting on May 12, 2006.  The purpose of the presentation was to outline the certification options for teaching American Sign Language at the elementary, middle school and secondary levels according to the Phase IV amendments of N.J.A.C. 6A:9.  The presentation also outlines the requirements for regular education and special education personnel for meeting the Highly Qualified Teacher requirements for teaching American Sign Language as a world language
