PROGRAM:

The Hoboken School District offers a unique learning experience in a small, safe urban environment. The district has infused technology throughout the curriculum and offers special opportunities for students. We have three elementary schools (preK-8) and two high schools.

The Hoboken School District utilizes Tools of the Mind in our early childhood program. TOM is a research-based early childhood program that builds strong foundations for school success in preschool and kindergarten. The Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) is used in grades 3-8 in our three elementary schools. The SRI allows for centralized computer assisted testing of reading ability. Lit Life and the Hoboken School District have partnered in a multi-year long term partnership bringing state of the art professional development in language, reading and literacy to our staff in grades 1-5. Lit Life complements the Pre-K Tools of the Mind curriculum as well as laying a firm foundation for the Middle Years International Baccalaureate Program in grades 6-10. It forms a tight coupling for the new curriculum.

Hoboken High School’s comprehensive curriculum, designed to serve a variety of student educational interests, includes the International Baccalaureate Program offering an internationally developed curriculum. Demarest High School serves students who would achieve in an alternative setting. Both schools offer students the opportunity to participate in our award winning drama program, recently adopted by the renowned Paper Mill Playhouse. Also available are interactive TV classrooms, a debate team, a mock trial team, and the Harvard Model Congress.
