PROGRAM:

The Lower Township School District offers comprehensive, quality educational programs and services designed to meet the needs of students of all abilities and interests. Our state of the art curriculum is aggressively aligned with the State Core Curriculum Content Standards, developmentally appropriate, research-based and designed to make learning experiences meaningful and relevant through the use of cutting-edge instructional practices, the latest technology, and low student-teacher ratios, which provide the opportunity for learner-centered instructional programs. Art, music, physical education, library education and technology are taught by specialists.

The district offers an Instrumental Music Program including strings. Field trips and cultural activities are incorporated into the program at each grade level to enrich instruction and make the curriculum more relevant. In 2003, our district received the Governor’s School of Excellence award for outstanding performance in literacy, student conduct, student attendance, parent/community involvement and teacher quality.

An effective learning climate is established and maintained through the implementation of a comprehensive character education and social skills program and high standards of student conduct with appropriate enforcement of disciplinary infractions. An annual on-going theme in each school is Kindness and Respect for Ourselves, Others and the School.

The district offers a before- and after-school Day Care Program, participates in the National School Lunch Program, and provides a Free Breakfast Program for all students. It is immediately evident to anyone visiting our schools that the focus is on student achievement and a positive learning environment. All school facilities are safe, well maintained and provide an accepting environment where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
