SCHOOL CHOICE PROGRAM STUDENTS:
PROGRAM: The mission of the South Harrison School District is to prepare our students to become confident, capable life-long learners and problem solvers by providing learning experiences which foster the intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth necessary to become responsible, productive members of a culturally and economically diverse society. Toward this end, the South Harrison School District works together in partnership with the staff, home and community to foster a safe, caring, academically challenging and supportive environment. There are two classes at each grade level. The Board of Education is committed to retaining small class sizes to ensure a maximum degree of individual attention, leading to close student-teacher relationships and fostering a healthy learning environment. The experienced teaching staff strives to help each student develop strong academic skills within a framework of steady emotional growth and positive self-image. The basic program of instruction includes language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, library, technology and character education. Our excellent world languages program is currently in its fourth year of implementation in grades K-6. Of importance to working parents is our After School Program, an option for parents who need extended child care, beyond the regular school day. The children are professionally supervised.
