GOVERNORS ANNUAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICES PROFESSIONALS RECOGNITION PROGRAM

GOVERNORS TEACHER RECOGNITION PROGRAM
The Governors Teacher Recognition Program was developed in 1985 for the purpose of acknowledging teachers who exhibit outstanding performance. Teachers are those whose primary responsibility is classroom instruction. The premise of recognizing teachers is based on the following:
The Governors Annual Educational Services Professionals Recognition Act was enacted on January 9, 2004 for the purpose of acknowledging those who hold educational services professional certificates and who exhibit outstanding performance. The premise of recognizing educational services professionals is based on the following:
Beginning in the 2004-05 school year, each school building with at least 10 teachers and/or 10 educational services professionals can nominate either one teacher or one educational services professional to be recognized at the county-wide event. Districts having less than 10 teachers or educational services professionals are encouraged to consolidate with other schools.
Note: Educational Services Professionals are considered to be one of the following categories
- Associate School Library Media Specialist;
- Cooperative Education Coordinator;
- Cooperative Education Coordinator/Hazardous Occupations;
- County Apprenticeship Coordinator;
- Director of School Counseling Services;
- Educational Interpreter Cued Speech Transliteration;
- Educational interpreter Oral Interpreting;
- Educational Interpreter Sign Language Interpreting
- Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant;
- Reading Specialist;
- School Athletic Trainer;
- School Counselor;
- School Library Media Specialist;
- School Nurse;
- School Nurse/Non-Instructional;
- School Occupational Therapist;
- School Physical Therapist;
- School Psychologist;
- School Social Worker;
- Speech-Language Specialist; or
- Substance Awareness Coordinator.
