DEGREE EQUIVALENCY FOR STUDIES COMPLETED IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES
Please note that the NJDOE is not authorized to determine the equivalent of studies completed in other countries for education in the United States. Applicants should therefore consult a credential evaluation service by searching the yellow pages or internet. These agencies charge various fees for the credentials evaluation.
Applicants choosing to consult a credentials evaluation service should request the following:
- The equivalent of studies to a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college program;
- The semester-hour equivalent of each area of college-level study. Please request the two-part evaluation that includes a course-by-course listing;
- The cumulative baccalaureate grade point average. Note that N.J.A.C. 6A:9-8.1(a)2 required that an application achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 when a GPA of 4.00 equals an A grade for students graduating before September 1, 2004 in a baccalaureate degree program, higher degree program or a State-approved post-baccalaureate certification program with a minimum of 13 semester-hour credits;
- for students graduating on or after September 1, 2004, achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 when a GPA of 4.00 equals an A grade in a baccalaureate degree program, higher degree program or in a State-approved post-baccalaureate certification program with a minimum of 13 semester-hour credits;
In addition you will need to apply for the endorsement of your choice.
