The information presented in columns 1 through 3 as well as the related descriptions of the per pupil cost calculations are contained in the 2010 Comparative Spending Guide and can be found on the Department of Education's Internet address: http://www.state.nj.us/education under Finance, when available. This publication is available in the board office and public libraries. The same calculations were performed using the 2009-10 revised appropriations and 2010-11 budgeted appropriations presented in this advertised budget. Total Comparative Per Pupil Cost is defined as current expense exclusive of tuition expenditures, transportation, residential costs, and judgments against the school district. For all years, it also includes the restricted entitlement aids. With the exception of Total Equipment Cost, each of the other per pupil cost calculations presented is a component of the total comparative per pupil cost, although all components are not shown.

 

Shared Services
  • Shared Services The Northern Middlesex Alliance is alive and well. We n
  • ow have six charter members and three associate members. We continue to
  • work with our school partners to see if there are ways of saving money.
  • Currently, the transportation jointures and the shared special education
  • services are providing us with the most immediate cost savings.
  • Transportation: We generated over $300,000 in revenue in each of the pre
  • vious two years by providing transportation services to our alliance part
  • ners.
  • Special Education: We have been able to save valuable resources by expan
  • ding our in-district offerings in special education. Our efforts have be
  • en supported by our Northern Alliance member School Districts and we have
  • increased our tuition revenues by 50% over the past two years and thirty
  • (30) times the revenues from three years ago.
  • Pooled Cash Management Program: The Alliance's Cooperating Banking and C
  • ash Management Program continues to expand and provide its members effect
  • ive interest rates above other banks and other governmental investment po
  • ols (NJ Cash Management Fund and the NJARM). .Current participants in ou
