Office
of School Funding
The office administers the state aid system for school districts in accordance with applicable statutes. It collects and validates the necessary data, including the ASSA and Charter School Enrollment; calculates, disburses and accounts for the various state aid programs pursuant to: the School Funding Reform Act, state aid for services to nonpublic school pupils, state aid pursuant to the State Facilities Education Act, and all other statutory state funded aid programs such as FICA. The office is responsible for administering, collecting and validating the audit summary and school register data, and then calculating and publishing the public school tuition rates utilized by school districts. The office also assists in identifying the responsible district when a determination of the district of residence is sought by multiple districts. A charter school fiscal unit in the office develops and administers the policy guiding the financial operations of charter schools. The research unit in the office prepares school finance statistics for dissemination in publications such as the Taxpayers' Guide to Education Spending , School Report Card, and the federal census and common core data. It conducts the necessary research and prepares reports as required by the school funding law, and performs state aid simulations relative to future school finance trends and proposed legislation.
