LOCATING STATUTES ONLINE
New Jersey Statutes are available on the web site of the State Legislature. However, addresses on this site change frequently. Rather than link to addresses that quickly become obsolete, the Department of Education is providing the following instructions to enable users to locate referenced statutes directly.
Go to the Legislature’s home page at http://www.njleg.state.nj.us.
Locate the content bar on the left, then scroll down to Laws and Constitution and select Statutes.
Enter the citation for the statute you are seeking into the Search box at the bottom of the page. Citations must be entered in quotes and without prefatory abbreviations. For example, N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1.1 would be entered as “18A:12-1.1”, N.J.S.A. 52:14B-1 would be entered as “52:14B-1”; and so forth.
For further information or to search for statutes by a method other than citation, select Help in the blue navigation bar found throughout the Legislature’s web site at the top of each page, then select User Instructions for Statutes.
