On Sunday October 19, 2008, Drumthwacket, the Governor’s Residence in Princeton, NJ, was the setting for a book signing event and educational kickoff promotion for the latest classroom tool to educate students against the evils of bias, prejudice and intolerance. Words for All Time: Students’ Letters to Holocaust Survivors, presents these important lessons in students' own words. Many of the thirty-five survivors featured in the book were on hand to speak and autograph copies. Governor Jon S. Corzine was also in attendance.
The book, edited and published by Rob Huberman, and a project of the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education, was compiled from over a thousand letters, poems and writings of New Jersey school children after they had a local Holocaust survivor visit their school and tell the students about their own childhood experiences at the hands of the Nazis.
The book is available at http://www.ComteQpublishing.com |

The
New Jersey Holocaust Commission is an autonomous
body operating under its own policies and
positions. It acts as a resource to the
Department of Education to assist schools with
various aspects of meeting the requirements of
the mandate to provide Holocaust and genocide
education. The commission provides curriculum
outlines and suggested activities; identifies and
publicizes demonstration sites for other
districts to contact; and recommends
informational resources and materials for
teachers and students to use in the state. |
