The contributions of parents are important to the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). During this three-part workshop series, parents will have an opportunity to develop/enhance their understanding of required IEP components and considerations and learn about strategies and tools that help to facilitate effective parental involvement throughout the IEP process. The following topics will be addressed:
Part 1 – Focus on Student Needs, Goals and Objectives, and Student Progress Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance
Annual Measurable Academic and Functional Goals
Benchmarks and Short-term Objectives
Evaluating and Reporting Student Progress
Part 2 – Focus on Programs, Services and Placement in the Least Restrictive Environment
Behavior Intervention Plan
Modifications and Supplementary Aids and Services
Supports for School Personnel
Statement of Special Education, Related Services and Supplementary Aids and Services
Part 3 – Focus on Transition-to-Adult Life and Graduation Requirements
Statement of Transition Planning
Statement of Transition Services: Coordinated Activities/Strategies
Graduation Requirements
Audience: Parents/caretakers of children with disabilities –
Preschool - Grade 12
Participants may register for the entire 3-part series or select specific sessions.
